Corvera Airport Murcia

 

Construction of the new international airport in Murcia began in July 2008. The airport, which is now expected to take its first flights in September 2011, will be one of Spain's largest airports.

 

In January 2010 the regional Murcia government guaranteed €200m towards the project which has seen a six month delay to its completion.

 

Situated centrally for Polaris World the airport is within 10 -20 minutes of the six Polaris World resorts in the Murcia region.

 

The region is currently served by San Javier airport which links with over 15 airports in the UK and Ireland with excellent flight schedules already in place from carriers such as Ryanair, Easy Jet, Monarch and Jet2.

 

The region has excellent flight links with Europe already and some of the best bargain fares to Spain can be found flying into Murcia (San Javier). San Javier is within 5-30 minutes of the Polaris resorts and Alicante airport is 50 - 60 minutes away.

 

However the addition of Corvera as an international airport will elevate the region further, opening it up to countries beyond Europe. With 3 airports serving the region Murcia will be the most accessible area in Spain for the UK and Ireland. Murcia already has the highest growth rate of tourist visitors in Spain.

 

While Murcia is already well served by airports at San Javier and Alicante, the new Corvera airport will consolidate Murcia as one of the most accessible regions in Europe. It will greatly assist investment opportunities such as Paramount Pictures who are looking at the region for a potential theme park.

 

Once flights begin in 2011 this will be excellent news for property prices in the region, which at 16% below the average price of Spanish property have plenty of scope to catch up.

 

Polaris World property is available at six resorts in the region all within 20 minutes drive of the new Corvera airport. The largest of the Polaris World resorts at Condado de Alhama will be well served by the new airport opening up this region of Murcia to international travellers. Currently Condado de Alhama resort is around 45 minutes drive from the current Murcia airport at San Javier.
