Cheap Flights to Murcia

Construction of the new international airport in Murcia began in July 2008. The airport, which is now expected to take its first flights later in 2012, will be one of Spain's largest airports.

 

The airport will be a huge boost for the Murcia region and comes at a time when a major theme park project by Paramount Pictures looks likely to be constructed just 15 minutes from Corvera.

 

Once Corvera opens the current San Javier airport in Murcia will close and airlines will transfer over to the new airport. It is expected that more airlines will be attracted as the new airport has a runway sufficient for the new Airbus. It is also expected to be cheaper for airlines with competitive landing fees and could attract many of the cheap airline routes currently into Alicante.

 

In 2011 Alicante airport just one hour from the Murcia region opened a new terminal building, a staggering six times the size of the previous facility. Alicante (ALC) is a useful alternative airport for flights as it is just 60 minutes from the Polaris World resorts in Murcia. but car hire is necessary. Once Corvera opens and fully establishes itself with European airlines then it should be served by most destinations from within Europe and beyond.

Situated centrally for Polaris World the airport is within 10 -20 minutes of the six Polaris World resorts in the Murcia region.

 

The addition of Corvera as an international airport will elevate the region further, opening it up to countries beyond Europe. With three airports serving the region, Murcia will be the most accessible area in Spain for the UK and Ireland. Murcia already has the highest growth rate of tourist visitors in Spain.

 

 

While Murcia is already well served by airports at San Javier and Alicante, the new Corvera airport will consolidate Murcia as one of the most accessible regions in Europe. It will greatly assist investment opportunities such as Paramount Pictures who have agreed to build a theme park just 15 minutes from the new airport. Corvera airport is expected to be linked to the European high speed rail network.

 

Once flights begin this will be excellent news for property prices in the region, which at 16% below the average price of Spanish property have plenty of scope to catch up. The half price bargains currently available in 2012 as the banks sell off their last stock look particularly attractive for investors.

 

Developer Polaris World built six superb golf resorts in the region. All resorts are within 10-20 minutes drive of the new Corvera airport. The largest of the Polaris World resorts at Condado de Alhama will be well served by the new airport opening up this region of Murcia to international travellers. Currently Condado de Alhama resort is around 45 minutes drive from the current Murcia airport at San Javier.
