Just outside the resort of Hacienda Riquelme lies the old Sucina train station. On the train line mid way between Murcia and Cartagena the station is within 25 minutes of the centre of each city and a newly opened station would offer a perfect facility for owners and residents of the resort..

 

Unfortunately trains do not stop here at present. But in the last two years, two golf developments with over 2,000 homes have been built close to the station and the population of Sucina has grown several fold.

 

Residents of Hacienda Riquelme led by Hilary Quinlan have been petitioning for the re-opening of the train station. Good progress has been made with the mayor of Murcia considering the proposal as part of a grander scheme to develop infrastructure within the region.
