The Polaris World resort of Mar Menor is just 5km from the beaches of the Mar Menor sea. The Mar Menor ("small sea") offers shallow warm waters ideal for bathing and water sports. With a maximum depth of just 8 metres the Mar Menor connects to the Mediterranean. The region is popular for its spas and therapeutic treatments. A pedestrian boulevard is under construction connecting the resort to the seafront and will offer cycling paths down to Los Alcazares.

 

 

Just outside the gates of the Mar Menor resort is "La Goleta". A development of commercial premises with apartments above, La Goleta opened in December 2009 and already offers several restaurants, bars and a night club with many more shops and facilities set to open.

 

Mar Menor resort is just 20 minutes drive from the coastal city of Cartegena and 30 minutes drive from the regional capital, Murcia city. Both cities offer cultural sites, entertainment and extensive shopping.
