Hacienda Riquelme Resort : Polaris World Golf Resort Murcia

 

The resort of Hacienda Riquelme opened in December 2007 for the first residents. The par 72 golf course opened in June 2008. Hacienda Riquelme is located near the town of Sucina and based just 15 minutes from the Polaris World resorts of El Valle and La Torre.

 

The resort boasts a splendid 18 hole par-72 golf course designed by Nicklaus Design.

 

 

The Hacienda (large country mansion) at this resort was previously the home of the Riquelme family. This splendid building has been converted and extended to provide the typical town centre facilities you would expect on any Polaris World resort including bar, restaurant, supermarket, pro shop and club house.

 

This resort has a par 72, 18 hole Nicklaus designed golf course. The resort has already hosted the Spanish Pro Championship in its second year of opening and the course is expected to improve further in coming years as it matures.

 

There is a magnificent town centre in the resort converted from the existing manor house (the Hacienda). There is also a separate sports area on the resort.

The nearby town of Sucina offers town facilities within easy reach. There are a number of golf courses within the immediate area including the adjacent Peralaja Golf. The city of Murcia is just 20 minutes from the resort. A new highway between the coast and Murcia city opened in January 2010 and passes just 2km from the resort making Hacienda Riquelme resort very accessible.

 

San Javier (Murcia) airport is 18 minutes drive and the new Corvera airport will be 20 minutes away.

 

 

The countryside available on the doorstep of Hacienda Riquelme golf resort offers fantastic views across the plain to the Mar Menor coastline. The roads are safe to cycle and new bicycle paths now stretch all the way from the resort to the coast and Murcia city. The resort is ideal for golfers and families seeking a peaceful location. Keen walkers can find many picturesque walks in the area.

 

 

Just outside the resort is a train station on the single line between Cartagena and Murcia city. The station closed some years ago and the residents are now petitioning for the re-opening of the station. If successful it will mean a 30 minute ride to Cartagena, a 25 minute journey into the centre of Murcia city and a connection to the high speed rail network throughout Europe.
